Personalise additional advice
You can support your customers to choose the right product by giving additional advice:
The recommended maximum daily intake of vitamin D for adults, including pregnant and breastfeeding women, and children over 11 years is 100 mcg from food and supplements. You can advise customers that 10 mcg a day will be enough for most people unless they are recommended to take a different amount by their GP.5
Some customers who have not been supplementing may wish to take a higher dose of vitamin D. You should advise them that it is possible to take too much vitamin D and this can be harmful. Taking too much vitamin D can cause too much calcium to build up in the body, weakening the bones and damaging the kidneys and the heart.5 At Boots, we sell supplements providing a daily dose of up to 75 mcg of vitamin D, which can be recommended to those wishing to take a higher dose while still remaining within safe limits of this vitamin.

The majority of your customers would benefit from vitamin D supplementation.
