Acne

Sun exposure can cause acne breakouts following sunburn or due to increased sweating.3

Using a suitable cleanser and moisturiser for oily or acne-prone skin can help to prevent acne breakouts. Pairing with a water based (non-comedogenic) sunscreen will help to prevent blocked pores, which can also reduce outbreaks.3

Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation occurs when patches of skin become darker than the surrounding skin. This occurs when an excess of melanin, the brown skin pigment, gathers in the skin.4 Several conditions can cause hyperpigmentation, which can present as freckles or moles, as well as damage to the skin caused by injury or infection.4

Customers may want reassurance that changes in their skin are not problematic. Sunscreen is important for protecting hyperpigmented skin and customers may also want advice from the beauty team.

Actinic keratosis

Actinic keratoses (also called solar keratoses) are dry, scaly patches of skin caused by damage from the sun. Usually they aren’t serious, but there is a chance the patches could become cancerous. Actinic keratoses patches are usually 1-2cm in size and can be dry, rough and scaly, and may be pink, red or brown in colour.5
