Achieving smoke-free

In 2019, the Government set an ambition for England to be smoke-free by 2030.1 The other home nations have similar targets.

Smoke-free is being defined as less than 5% of the adult population smoking tobacco, with smokers either quitting or moving to reduced risk products such as e-cigarettes.2 To support this ambition, everyone working in healthcare should take every opportunity to share information and advice that may help someone to give up smoking.

The latest NICE guidance released at the end of 2021 indicates that e-cigarettes should now be offered as an option for stopping smoking.3

E-cigarettes should not be sold to customers who are under 18 years old. For more information about Challenge 25 and selling age-restricted products you can watch our 2-minute video here.
