CPD for pharmacists who provide the Travel Vaccinations & Health Advice Service

One way that pharmacy professionals can demonstrate safe and effective care is through carrying out a range of continuing professional development (CPD) activities relevant to their practice.

Pharmacists who deliver our Travel Vaccinations & Health Advice Service should undertake CPD activities relating to pre-travel health in line with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPSG) Faculty of Travel Medicine, ‘Good Practice Guidance on Providing a Travel Health Service’, which can be found at: https://rcpsg.ac.uk/documents/publications/1535-tm-guidancedoc-1020-final-hires-singlepages/file

To support pharmacists to delve deeper into relevant areas of pre-travel health, the Travel Specialists within the Boots IMA team create tailor-made content. This can be found on BootsLive and Pharmacy Unscripted and is announced through a ‘What’s New?’ message within the knowmalaria app. The most recent edition includes a feature on advising travellers identifying as LGBTQ+ and is intended to support pharmacists to carry out informative and sensitive consultations.
